80s Child

In the 80s, it was a different world. Here are a few glimpses of life then...

1. There were squat toilets at home. There were very few sitting toilets in school and not many used them anyway. Because we squat all the time, I guess we were fitter kids.

2. There was no daytime TV. In the morning and afternoon, you had CDIS educational TV meant for schools to tune in.

3. Mcdonald's had McRibs and "biscuits" like like KFC and Popeyes now (breakfast only). It was flat in shape though.

4. Sanitary pads were thick, and wings and nightsafe pads had just arrived. And we have seen or even used loop pads. (Girls only)

5. Girls took Home Econs and boys took D and T (mostly). We learnt a lot of things in Home Econs! We made skirts and learnt how to take care of babies.

6. Playgrounds had sand. They were made of stone, metal or wood.

Repeat CEA

Finally went for my repeat CEA and other blood work today. I hope I clear this. If not, then it's back to CGH. Then perhaps FOBT, followed by colonoscopy?

And for all you know, it could be something else. CEA is most commonly used for colorectal cancer, but it is also for many other cancers.

Update: I cleared it. So the earlier result was probably due to some other insult to the body which I overcome.

Nov 09 Update: School holidays

It has been a while since I wrote something.

I have been cleared for NPC as the 2nd scope also did not find anything. The doctor decided to discharge me from the programme.

This has been the busiest year yet for me.

I also recently attended the International Science Education Conference. Very educational! Many schools sent more than the standard one teacher, but not us...

My holidays are also fully packed up to the end of this week. I hope next week I can slow things down and get a day or two off while doing the preparations for next year.

Parking summons near Petal Mac

I got a parking ticket today at the car park off Petal Mac. I teach my kids there quite often but this is the first time I got a ticket. I did put a coupon but you know tuition remedial -- you never know when it will end. So I usually exceed a bit.

Physics Course

I attended a Physics course today and I am happy to say that how I teach the topic of magnetism is correct! Same as what the lecturer said! I am glad my content and Physics Education is still solid.

As usual, some teachers are not so good but it is good that they came for a course to learn from us... I knew the answer to all of their questions.
